I agree. This was the first of the best year and half of this in r8ng career. He couldn’t have a bad match, he was oftentimes having vintage Legend Since August 1960 shirt match. After quad tear, he came back too bulky, he couldn’t move around as well. Once he leaned down, he started having good matches again. Nothing will top his 2000-mid 2001. That letter from Joe Perkins is really interesting, and just makes me want a full tell-all biography from Vince himself with no holds barred on anything even more than I already did. Joe’s letter is almost 100% accurate, from what I’ve read from other promoters in New England from the 70s and 80s too.

It struck me as accurate based on what I’ve heard over the years as well, but I don’t think I’ve ever read anything from other NE promoters. What stuff did you find written by them? JW, I love reading old wrestling stuff like that. Yeah, it was an awesome letter, really glad he took the time to write it. I was also struck by the fact vintage Legend Since August 1960 shirt he remained on the WWE Board until 2017! Vince must really respect/like him. Does that make him the longest-tenured person/employee affiliated with the WWE? Based on that letter, it sounds like he predates Vince himself. The closest thing we’ll get to a VKM biography is this supposed biopic Pandemonium that will star Bradley Cooper as McMahon, and even then I believe it’s only documenting the 80’s circa WM1.

It would’ve been so interesting seeing Ric Flair in the WWF in 1999/2000. Don’t really know what kinda role he could’ve had but a feud with The Rock, Eddie Guerrero, or even Kane had everything to be entertaining. I think he would have vintage Legend Since August 1960 shirt a similar role to what Flair had when he finally came to WWE two years later. A managerial role where he’s the big face owner thwarting any heelish plans (think Commish Foley) and then slowly transitioning back to in-ring work. Flair in 1999/2000 WWF would work as the face authority figure appointed by Linda to counter Triple H & Stephanie (and later Vince & Shane when they join the Regime). That said, his role in the Invasion would be interesting. Would he side with the WWF or defect to join WCW?
