Glad I’m not the only one who’s still in love with Artificial Selection. It’s just such a complete album, plus Tillian is a fucking god. There was so much hype and I think the overexposure might have affected it. I was 100% guilty of celebrating it endlessly tbh. I really think it’s their best album and idk maybe one of my all time favorites. Like some of the ones I put at the top are alexisonfire’s “Crisis,” Underoath’s “Define the Great Line,” August Burns Red’s “Messengers,” Four Year Strong’s “Enemy of the World,” Top Jinjer Metalcore Band shirt and Architects’ “All Our Gods Have Abandoned Us.” I could easily see Artificial Selection being that high for me. But I know a lot of people liked Mothership better and that’s fine. I just have a huge emotional connection I can’t really explain with AS and similarly with the albums I just mentioned.

Artificial Selection is the culmination of all their work with Tillian. I thought the same thing with Mothership but then AS came out, took the Dance Gavin Dance sound and gave it a long line of pure Colombian cocaine. It’s a perfect DGD project and a perfect album. I just think it’s the album where they finally found that perfected sound they were looking for. It’s the perfect balance of groove, melody, heavy, and catchiness. Top Jinjer Metalcore Band shirt Tillian’s singing paired with Will Swan’s riffs is just legendary. Also, I may be a little biased too thanks to an emotional attachment to the album. I listened to it literally non-stop for the three-four weeks leading up to my wedding earlier this summer, so it gives me happy vibes and memories whenever I listen to the album now 🙂

Guess I’ll be the bad guy lol. Yes lots of great bands put out albums. Maybe a handful of the ones you listed stuck with me. I’ve only had one album get a 9/10 from me, but I’m hoping Silent Planet becomes the second one. Definitely started to question my love for metalcore as most of these new albums just didn’t do much for me. I find myself constantly going back to prior year releases. I will say deathcore definitely caught my ear this year. Also you’re missing Thornhill lol. Best EP of the year hands down. Hollow Front had a great EP too. My feelings are largely the same. Mainly that this years releases don’t resonate with me as much as last or previous years releases did. But Top Jinjer Metalcore Band shirt you said deathcore caught your ear it kind of dawned on me that the same happened to me this year. So I assume it is more that I enjoy the new sounds of deathcore this year and therefore don’t listen to metalcore as much and less that I don’t like it.
