I disagree with pretty much all of these criticisms, but write-ups like these are always interesting to read through. I think you went into this book with misguided expectations and that led to you sort of missing the point of major parts like Brenna, Stygga and the pogrom. You’re also unfair to the author — Never Underestimate A Woman Who Was Born In November T-Shirt just because you missed something doesn’t mean it makes no sense. A lot of things that you call “useless” or “ridiculous” are, in fact, explained, and have relevance to the themes and plot. For example: Galahad and the Arthurian Britain stuff is not random at all. The entire series has Arthurian influences and parallels. Ciri is the Holy Grail. You reference “Something Ends, Something Begins”. I don’t know how you missed this if you read that.

Brenna isn’t filler. It’s the resolution to the political plotline that was introduced all the way back in “Something More”. The main characters don’t have to be there for it to be important. That’s actually part of the brilliance of this chapter, Never Underestimate A Woman Who Was Born In November T-Shirt that the author was able to tell such an engaging battle story without a single main character present. Imo it would be hard to find a better battle scene across the entire fantasy genre. As for Coen, he is an extremely minor character. We don’t need a POV for his death. If anything, it’s more emotional to see that he’s died without ever learning the exact reasons why he went to fight. I am only gonna respond to the point with ending. I agree with you completely. The Toussaint ending is nice and all, it wouldn’t fit the books at all though. The witcher is not a fairytale.

Even if it is explained, nigh all of the padding has no effect on overall plot and our beloved trio in particular. All them are going like in parallel, in a most irrelevant way possible. The Arthurian legends are randomly appearing only in the last book, no buildup was there in the past books (maybe some very subtle and obscure references, but nothing more). Never Underestimate A Woman Who Was Born In November T-Shirt So you think that Galahad, Condrawimurs and Nimue garbage is useful? I think it’s just a waste of time and spotlight stealer from Geralt and Ciri. I especially hated the pointless kill of Cahir, which rendered his whole arc useless Exactly. This is well-thought solution, to stress how insignificant was his death to the whole story; how he was – just one of many casualties. Again – there’s nothing heroic about the war, that is message sent here.
