Wouldn’t the Great Society be more unacceptable to the business-friendly, free-market Republicans? I think conservative Democrats would be open to the Great Society, as they have poorer rural constituencies (who historically backed the New Deal). This would be true for OTL Republican/Democrat dynamics, but the collapse of the Democratic Party and formation of the NPP and RDs resulted in a party shift that essentially flipped the two groups around–see LBJ being a Republican and Goldwater being a Democrat. That’s not to say things are completely opposite to OTL, Legend Since August 1952 shirt as people like JFK still consider themselves Democrats, but generally, you can consider them flipped. i mean he’s still a bully in TNO – and he did pretty good at that moral crusading irl (considering his time and other political factors) – but def an upgrade still ready for lyndon big dick johnson to dab on inequality

I mean, LBJ in TNO is still a warmongering bully (remember, we haven’t talked about how all the presidents handle South Africa yet!), and I don’t think it’s entirely fair to dismiss his IRL accomplishments in favor of just criticizing his handling of Vietnam. But yes, LBJ in TNO leans slightly more to the left, due to a number of different circumstances: A generally friendly political climate, Legend Since August 1952 shirt a malleable opposition, a different ideological enemy, etc. One big thing to consider is that without FDR’s New Deal in TNO, LBJ has to do a lot of what it did instead (e.g. gotta pass Social Security before Medicare/Medicaid), so while it seems like there’s a lot more, the end result might be the same as OTL (at least for a single-term LBJ). For a closet racist, LBJ pushed both the Civil Rights Act and the Voting Rights Act against the will of much of his party.

I’m not trying to dismiss his accomplishments(though it might’ve looked like it), I just get a little annoyed when people constantly hold him up as some sort of hero despite his, well, everything. But I didn’t really consider the lack of FDR impacting domestic policy, so I guess that would explain some of this. On that topic, do we know Legend Since August 1952 shirt happened to FDR? EDIT: Holy hell a dev noticed me! Thank y’all so so much for the frankly ridiculous amounts of work you’re putting in to this! I can’t remember the last time I’ve been so hyped for a mod, or even any game at all. He was a big believer in giving every man a fair shot, since he himself worked his way up from nothing. That being said, he wasn’t all that fond of the blacks(though he called them far worse) and was reported to have proclaimed “We’ll have those n****rs voting for us for the next 200 years”. And I completely forgot to mention that his womanizing made Kennedy look like a monk by comparison.
