Twice a week would be perfect! I have been doing it every day for a year and think I’m going to shoot myself, I did it for 6.5 years. It’s rough. Hopefully, you are commuting to Short Pump/Innsbrook and not downtown. Its out to Glenn Allen, this quarantine/working from home made me realize that I would get home and feel anxious and rushed to get my things done and it made me grumpy and short with people. I do drive to Richmond a lot though, and it’s an okay drive, a little boring but relatively quick and painless. Working moms thing is beyond me, someone else will come along and help with that. I commuted to Richmond for a few years and was working pretty long hours then. It’s doable, but not ideal. A few days a week is probably fine in the medium term. The drive is easy, but some people find it incredibly boring. If you can miss rush hour you just set your cruise control to 79mph (80+ is reckless driving by the way) and arrive a bit over an hour later, assuming you are talking about downtown. People, Best I Just Crushed Preschool Shirts way worse commutes all over the country. The problem is that people don’t have those commutes here. It’s easy to become a part of the community here, and it is therefore easy to feel left out of your work community (Richmond) and home community (Cville) when you are commuting. Less of a concern for a couple of days a week.

As for childcare, unfortunately, the options are limited and waitlists are long for places that are full day. We ended up doing a nanny share for our first child since it ended up being comparably priced to daycare, and a lot more Best I Just Crushed Preschool Shirts flexible. The Cville Mamas Group on FB is a good resource for researching this stuff, or so I hear. Welcome to town. As you can imagine things aren’t at all normal yet given the pandemic, so hopefully that is not too discouraging. And I can’t get into the Charlottesville ASK group because it’s private, and I’m not yet a permanent resident. Is FB how most people find nannies? I’ve been a little stressed out on that front because I don’t know where to start looking for a nanny, and we do love the one we have now. It will be hard to replace her.
